Alara comes from one of the seven major clans who control the Ursus Republic. Whilst technically an republic, the leadership position is elective, and every full grown member of the race is able to vote for the ruler. Once elected, the ruler stays for life, or until there is a popular revolt. Revolting is a cherished tradition among these people, as is counter revolution. For years the major clans feuded, until they were united two thousand years ago under The Glorious Prophet Dan(praise be his name). What is known of the king is that he is a skilled tactician, along with a hardy warrior. Reportedly, he rules justly or with wroth, depending on the person queried.
Planet and Economy

Ursa prime was once a baron desolate wasteland of snow and ice, life only existing around the equator. At around double the size of earth, this made it very hard to get anywhere. Until about twenty four thousand years ago, when a magnetic pole shift occurred. This caused massive destabilization, completely redefining the planets surface life and characteristics. It became a wet and forested land, separated by great plains and mountain ranges. The original Ursine beings were stark white, a trait still apparent in some today, however through time other variations developed. Some with brown, black, even russet red fur occurred. Up until a thousand years ago this caused major racial tension, however, it is mostly dissolved.

The Urside economy straddles three separate industries: food, lumber, and military-industrial. Due to the massive amounts of farm able land, there has always been a large number of Ursides. Not until the agricultural revolution 500 years ago did the population explode, which now sits at somewhere around ten billion. This in turn generated a large amount of cheap labor, which gave way to a large arms industry, an important bargaining point to the end of the First Contact war. The lumber industry exists simply because there are many trees. Much of their trading occurs with the Saerid Directive, usually for minerals. The Urside people have advanced small and medium arms production industries, capable of producing miniaturized Gauss weapon systems.

The Urside people retain a single colony(planet level 2) dubbed, Hearth. It is centered around a smallish planet about the size of the Asiatic continent. Scans of planet reveal no atmosphere, however it has large polar ice caps. The planets atmosphere was long ago blown away in a cataclysm of some sort. However, through happenchance it's incredibly fertile soil remained. However, since there was no atmosphere for a very long while, nothing grew. It lies in the same solar system as Ursine Prime, the next planet closer towards the central star. The Ursine people retain huge industrial farming operations, the greenhouses covering more then 1/3 of the planets surface. Much of the rest of the planet is used for offsite military industry and development, huge underground complexes present. This is the crown jewel of the Ursine people, attributing to their huge surplus of food. The planets capabilities had never been fully taken advantage of, considering the lack of demand. Until now...

Appearance(Colourings and markings): Ursides have thick fur all over their body, with the exception of the undersides of their hands and feet. Their fur varies in colour, from white to russet red.
